The vintage buckle slider -
was part of the equipment needed for my bag pattern test for Sew Sweetness. The pattern is available for sale today so I can now show you the bag in all its glory. (Check out the end of this post if you would like to win some bag patterns!)
And here it is
I used an embroidered wool fabric that I picked up in a sale in Riga for the exterior and the lining fabric is from the 1001 Peeps line, and was also picked up in a sale in Riga. I knew those fabrics would come in useful someday :)
The twist lock I used for the bag is slightly different to the one Sara recommends in the pattern, but as I had this one in my stock of bag supplies already it made sense to use it instead. This one is screwed together unlike the recommended lock, and is slightly bigger, but it worked out just as well. It is available here
So if you would like to revamp your wardrobe with some fabulous new bags, just let me know the best/strangest thing you have discovered at the bottom of your handbag!
Each comment will be entered into a random draw and the winner will get five patterns from Sew Sweetness' pattern range. The patterns will be sent by email so make sure I have some way of contacting you.
As ever tell me you are a follower for an extra chance to win.
The draw will close at 12.00 p.m (GMT) on Sunday February 24th, when the winner will be randomly drawn.
I look forward to reading your comments. Good Luck!
I've just been looking at all the fabulous bags on Sara's blog!
ReplyDeleteI would love to win some patterns!!
I'm a happy follower!
ReplyDeleteyour bag is lovely, the fabric is gorgeous! I've never used a twist lock, I must add that to my to-do list (and as you're responsible for me adding it, I think you should agree to do that 50% of the list we discussed!!)
ReplyDeleteThere is all manner of crap in my handbag. It's the size of a small car and I use it to carry everything including the kitchen sink. Last night when i got home, I had a pair of pliers in there... I suppose that's quite unusual? Though not as unusual as my mum who used to carry a kitchen knife in her handbag!!
I'm a follower, but you know that as you've just never been able to shake me off!
ReplyDeleteStrangest thing I've found has to be a £20 note! Lol, never have much cash on me.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm a follower too....
ReplyDeleteThat wool fabric is fabulous for that bag, it really looks wonderful!!
ReplyDeleteMy husband has often commented on the random things I carry around in my handbag, but I can often be found to be carrying a lightbulb, balloon weights and keys that I have no idea which lock/door there for! ( I can't throw them away incase I find where there for!?!)
I'm a follower too!
ReplyDeleteum well. recently it was an entire large bag of m&ms. thanks for the chance
ReplyDeleteI've found money that fell out of my billfold! This is a great giveaway -I love bag patterns! I love your new bag in that lovely wool fabric.
ReplyDeleteI am a follower also.
ReplyDeleteYour purse was my favorite out of Sara's testers. The most interesting thing in the bottom of my bag are mentos with lint that have fallen out of thier package.
ReplyDeleteI am a new follower as of today! I hope I win so I don't have to shell out some bucks, I love Sara's newest two bag patterns!
ReplyDeleteMichelle you are a no-reply blogger! Send me your contact details so that I can enter you into the draw!
DeleteI found a piece of chewed gum - rock hard and teeth marks still in it. I think / hope they were mine anyways!! Guess when I tried to throw it away it must have bounced back in to my bag!!! Yuck...
ReplyDeleteYay I am a follower. LOVE your bag. I wasn't brave enough to test that one! Well done you - it is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThe best thing I've found in my handbag is generally a random pound that's fallen out somewhere along the line. The worst is the mess at the bottom of my bag when my foundation exploded!
ReplyDeleteI'm a follower too!
ReplyDeleteYour bag looks great! I saw it on Sara's blog and cheered for you!
ReplyDeleteAnd I follow your blog in my google reader.
ReplyDeleteThis looks fab, love the outer fabric you chose :o)
ReplyDeleteYour bag is beautiful. You did a great job and the fabric is so pretty. I carry a lot of things in my purse, but for a while I carried a tape meassure. You never know when you are going to need one :)
ReplyDeleteI'm a follower.
ReplyDeleteThe best thing I have found at the bottom of my bag is a spare thimble. I'm always loosing them so actually finding one is amazing. lol. Great bag, and thanks for the chance to win some patterns!
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, I'm a follower.
ReplyDeleteWhat an excellent job you have done! I'm so impressed with all that you've done since we first found each other on the blog universe. Now your even a tester, that certainly qualifies as a "new to me"! lol The answer to your question is what haven't I found in the bottom of my purse: long lost coupons, a piece of fabric that seemed to have misplaced itself and shows up when I don't need it anymore, lots of change and whatever else I can think of. Great giveaway and I can't wait to see up your up to next!
ReplyDeleteI'm a happy follower! Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteI love your bag. You did an amazing job with the construction and fabric choice. Thanks for sharing it with us.
ReplyDeleteI'm an ongoing follower by email. Keep those great posts headed my way!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful bag!!! The best thing I found at the bottom of my handbag was our Yorkie puppy...I had to put him in there because it was storming outside when we picked him up from the breeder :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the sweet giveaway!
I'm already a happy follower :)
ReplyDeleteI found a favorite lipstick tube that I thought was lost for over a year....

Love the wool you used for your bag! I hopped over to Sara's to peek at the others. I just washed my bag and found $40 in the washer!
ReplyDeleteI follow via email and GFC!
ReplyDeleteI've been eagerly admiring all of Sara's patterns as she's revealed them too. Recently I found two Starbucks ginger biscuits at the bottom of a handbag when I was particularly starving and nowhere near anywhere to eat. I have no idea when I bought them, but they were still perfectly wrapped and absolutely delicious :)
ReplyDeleteAnd I follow your blog on my reader :)
ReplyDeleteYour bag looks great! Love the shape and the fabric you used! On the bottom of my bag I found a sweet little note from my DH when I went away for a day out and he was looking after the kids! So sweet!
ReplyDeleteI am a follower of your blog!
ReplyDeleteLove your fabric choice. I feel like these days I am carrying a small toy store. Is that strange?
ReplyDeleteI follow on google reader
ReplyDeleteLove the embroidered wool you used, Fiona! The whole bag looks amazing and the buckle is perfect. I haven't found anything too exciting in the bottom of a bag, just the usual linty unwrapped gum!
ReplyDeleteHappy to be a follower!
ReplyDeleteI love the bag. I once discovered the partially chewed leg of a Barbie doll in my bag when out for the evening. I think the dog rather than a daughter had done the chewing but I'm not certain.
ReplyDeleteI found all kinds of trash because hubby. Uses it for a trash can
DeleteLove your bag! Been into bags myself lately. I keep finding euros at the bottom of my bag from a trip I made pre Christmas amongst the nail clipper, package of elastic, extra pair of socks and spoon. Perhaps it's time for a cleaning?! :)
ReplyDeleteGreat looking bag, Fiona!!! I do like the embroidered wool fabric you've used. I've never seen a twist lock before... can't quite work out how it functions, but it obviously does. I change my bags regularly, so they don't accumulate too much junk. Best thing is when I discover some wrapped chocolate that I know is not too old. Thanks for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteI love the bag....great job. I'm due to make myself a new bag again soon, as I've been using my very functional current one, but it really needs a bath and a rest, so I'm planning on doing me a new one very soon....if it's not too late, I'd love to win some patterns, that would top off my birthday weekend nicely!
ReplyDeleteHugs
Naomi
I love the embroidered fabric and I am a bagaholic
