Blogging has taken a bit of a back seat to my new sewing obsession! With the combination of lovely weather (sadly now gone!) and time on my hands I have been enjoying creating new summer clothes for the gorgeous grandsons.
Hippo shirt and matching plain shorts for the elder grandson
Hippo shirt and matching plain shorts for the littlest grandson!
Both of the outfits have been received with thanks and I am pleased to know that they both fit their recipients :)
Emboldened by the success of the quilting cotton shorts I purchased some cotton twill from Fabric Inspirations and went on to make two more pairs of shorts - denim twill above
with red patch back pockets for one gorgeous grandson
and plain red twill for the other!
The pattern I used was the free Sunny Days Shorts pattern from Oliver + S, it was really straightforward to make and as you can see offers opportunities to customise too.
The designer suggests adding a ribbon tag to the back waistband of the shorts to make identifying the front and back easier for little (and big!) people so naturally I added a tartan ribbon to remind them of the maker :)
Your hippo sets are adorable, and I so love the connection via the tartan ribbon. I've lost count of how many times I've sewn up the Oliver + S shorts. I really like the way the waistband is attached.
ReplyDeleteThese are great. Very smart and much better quality than shop bought clothes. You certainly have the best dressed grandsons - I feel like I've probably said that before!
ReplyDeleteHow cute are these. I've sure they loved them.
ReplyDeleteSew fun to sew for at this age!
ReplyDeleteOh well done you!! Great sets for gorgeous grandsons!!!
ReplyDeleteAdorable! That tag in the back is a great idea...I recently made myself a tank top and I have trouble identifying the front and back, lol.
