Starting to fly

What with holidays and competitions it has been a while since I have had a chance to think about my WIP list.

Speaking of competitions, voting is still open in the

I know the entries are all fabulous and it is really hard to choose between them but if you haven't already voted, you can cast your vote here. There are great prizes up for grabs, so vote to make sure your favourite wins one of them :)

HST quilt quilting

Although I didn't quite get my In Color Order HST BOM completed before the FAL deadline, I have been quilting away ever since and the quilting is now nearly completed. As this quilt has been on my finish list for every quarter this year, that is definitely progress!

I don't know whether it is because the border fabric is dark and the wadding is light so it is more noticeable, but everything is covered in fluff at the minute. Anyone would think it was moulting season around here!

No wadding needed yet though for the SMQ, Up, up and Away quilt, it will be a while before I need to get that order in :) Although, there are now less than 300 blocks needed for the quilt top! It doesn't sound too bad if I say it quickly enough :)

Up, up and away progress

Progress is being made though, and now that I am using the strips of 10 blocks from my Bee mates, in theory the strips should go together quicker! We shall see how well that theory holds up.

So this is how my WIP list looks now

  • In Color Order HST BOM - quilting almost completed!
  • Sunday Morning Quilt Bee blocks received, 2 more to be added by me
  • Sunday Morning Quilt2 Bee 313 blocks made, 277 to go!
  • Sunday Morning Quilt2 Bee - COMPLETED
  • Star of Africa Bee blocks completed and sent (only 2 left to make!)
  • Scrappy Trip Around the World Bee Q2 - COMPLETED AND SENT
  •  And Sew On BOM - eight blocks completed (One left to make!)
  • Paris Cushion - COMPLETED
  • Stamp it Up Swap pouch- COMPLETED AND SENT
  • (Almost) Irish Chain quilt basted
  • 5 blocks of NY Beauty QAL completed and fabric cut for remaining 5 blocks

Nearly but not quite - Q3 FAL report

Tonight is the deadline for Q3 of the FAL

    she can quilt
I have purposefully kept from posting on my progress in the hope that I could get another of my four projects finished in time but sadly I am still doing this!

    HST quilt quilting

So this HST BOM quilt is one project that will be carried forward (again!) for Q4 :(

    HST BOM Quilt top

I might even get this finished in time for the snow this winter!

On the bright side though, the well-travelled cross stitch tea towel has finally been finished.

    Work in progress

Several hours travelling from the UK to France, then France to Ireland and Ireland to the UK were enough to get this done.

So here's the rest of my Q3 report.

The Paris Cafe embroidery became this.

    Completed Cafe Cushion

    Blogged here

And finally although all of the blocks for the Craftsy BOM quilt are now completed, sadly that is all the progress that has been made :( So they still look like this.

    Craftsy Catch up

2 out of 4 isn't very impressive I know, especially as they were the smallest two of the four projects, but I am taking comfort from the fact that a 50% success rate is better than I have managed in either of the two previous quarters :)

Hope you are enjoying a more productive time than I am.

Don't forget to cast your vote in the

if you haven't already done so. You can check out all of the amazing entries here

Holiday Memories Mini Quilt Competition - Voting now open!

Well, they travelled, they photographed, they planned, stitched, blogged or Flickr'ed and then entered and what fabulous entries they were but now it is your turn.

    Entries to the Holiday Memories Mini Quilt Competition are now closed, which means that it is time to vote for your favourite. So here's the lowdown on voting;

    • Vote by clicking on the heart in the top right hand corner of your favourite.
    • Each IP address has only one vote per category so spend it wisely :)
    • All of the entries have been anonymised to make the process as fair as possible too
    • Voting will close at 23.59GMT on Friday, October 11th
    • Winners will be announced on Tuesday, October 15th

In the meantime, the expert judges will be scrutinising all of the entries to bestow their Best in Show awards. Here's a quick reminder of why they are going to be such great scrutineers :)

    •  Kristy at My Photo is well known to many of you as the paper-piecing pattern supremo of such diverse lines as Retro Kitchenware and LEGO Star Wars characters

    • Cindy at Tops to Treasures is a longarm quilter par excellence and a Moda Bakeshop designer to boot
    • Sheila at bluepatch quilter is a quilt class teacher of many years standing who describes herself as an enthusiastic quilter, but her pupils might think that is underselling herself
I am glad it is down to them and not me, I would have a really tough time choosing!

So what are you waiting for? Let's vote!
